1Drawing on the Chart

LootX drawing tools: panel and favorites, how to draw, select and delete, properties panel, magnet, ruler, the Position tool, hotkeys, and drawing synchronization.

On the chart you can mark levels, trends, channels and zones, write text, measure moves with the ruler and rough out a trade with the Position tool. Drawings are saved per coin and sync between computers when you sign in to your LootX account.

The same tools are available on the liquidity map — differences are covered at the end of this page.

Toolbar

Tools sit in the panel at the left edge of the chart. Top to bottom:

  • Cursor (Esc) — regular mode with no tool active.
  • Favorite tools, with favorite indicators below them.
  • All tools — full list grouped by category. The star next to a tool adds it to favorites.
  • Magnet — snaps points to candles, see below.
  • Delete (Del) and Delete all drawings.
  • Undo (Ctrl+Z) and Redo (Ctrl+Y).
  • Sync drawings across TFs — show drawings on all timeframes or only on the timeframe where they were drawn.
  • Hide toolbar — collapse the panel.

The panel size is set in Settings → Chart — Toolbar size. In the same place, Favorite tools in menu — whether to show favorites in the chart context menu.

Tools

The full list is also in the chart context menu: right-click → Drawing tools. The groups there are the same as in the All tools window, plus a Favorites group.

Group Tools
Levels Horizontal line, Horizontal ray
Lines Trend line, Ray, Vertical line, Trend angle
Channels Parallel channel, Horizontal channel, Disjoint channel, Trend regression
Shapes Rectangle
Measurement Fibonacci, Range volume profile
Drawing Brush
Annotations Text
Position Long position, Short position

Range volume profile builds a volume profile over the selected chart range. The side it’s drawn on is set by the gear icon on the properties panel — Side: left or right.

How to draw

Pick a tool

From the left panel, the All tools window or the chart context menu.

Place the points

Click the start and end points — or hold the mouse button at the start and release at the end. The chart then returns to cursor mode on its own.

Adjust the look

The selected drawing shows the properties panel — more on it below.

Esc cancels the selected tool before the drawing is placed.

Selecting, moving, deleting

  • Click a drawing to select it; a selected drawing can be dragged with the mouse.
  • Ctrl + click adds a drawing to the selection or removes it from the selection.
  • Ctrl + drag over empty space selects multiple drawings with a box.
  • Del or Backspace deletes the selection. If orders are selected on the chart, the key applies to them instead.
  • Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V copy and paste the selected drawings.
  • Ctrl+Z undoes the last action — including indicator actions. Ctrl+Y or Ctrl+Shift+Z redoes.

To delete everything at once — the Delete all drawings button on the panel or the Delete all objects context menu item. The terminal asks for confirmation: “Delete all drawings (…)?” with the drawing count.

The mouse wheel button can be assigned to delete the drawing under the cursor: Settings → Hotkeys, setting Mouse wheel button → Delete drawing object. By default the wheel enables the ruler; the third option is Reset zoom.

Properties panel

When a drawing is selected, a floating panel appears. It can be dragged by its handle. On it:

  • color — clicking the swatch opens the palette;
  • line width in pixels and line style;
  • trash can — delete the drawing.

Individual tools add their own controls:

Tool Additional panel controls
Horizontal line and ray Price (wheel/input) field — exact price by number or wheel
Rectangle Frame on/off and opacity in percent
Text Font size and Background behind the text
Range volume profile Gear icon with profile side
Alert level Trigger mode: repeating or once, see Alerts and levels

Magnet

Magnet snaps drawing points to the open, high, low and close prices of the nearest candle. Clicking the Magnet button cycles through modes: off → weak → strong → off. Holding Ctrl makes the magnet work temporarily — in the last selected mode.

Magnet does not affect the brush or text.

Ruler

The ruler measures the distance between two points on the chart. Two ways to turn it on:

  • Shift + left click — the ruler stays on screen until the next left click;
  • hold the mouse wheel — the ruler stays while the wheel is held. This is the default action; it can be changed in the Mouse wheel button setting.

The ruler card shows price change in percent, number of ticks, bars, time and volume over the segment. The card appearance is set in Settings → Chart → Ruler: Card appearance — “Table (next to cursor)” or “Compact (above zone)”, and Show in ruler selects the rows.

Position tool

Long position and Short position draw a trade plan: entry line, take-profit and stop-loss. On the cards:

  • at entry — price and profit-to-risk ratio: “Entry: … R/R: …”;
  • at take-profit and stop-loss — price and distance from entry in percent.

When created, the take-profit is twice as far as the stop-loss (1:2). The tool does not place anything on an exchange and does not calculate risk in money — only prices, percentages and R/R.

Chart menu

Right-clicking the chart opens items that apply to all drawings at once:

  • Lock all objects — a toggle: the checkmark means drawings are locked, clicking again removes the lock;
  • Hide → Hide all objects — also a toggle: drawings disappear from the screen but are not deleted. The same submenu hides alert lines, trades, trading info and indicator panels;
  • Delete all objects.

Locking and hiding all objects apply only to this chart, while hiding alert lines and trades applies to all charts.

Hotkeys

These always work and can’t be reassigned:

Key Action
Esc Cancel the selected tool
Del, Backspace Delete the selection
Ctrl+Z Undo
Ctrl+Y, Ctrl+Shift+Z Redo
Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V Copy and paste selected drawings
Shift + click Ruler
Ctrl + click, Ctrl + drag Select multiple drawings

In Settings → Hotkeys, chart section Drawing, you can assign your own keys to: Trend line, Trend ray, Horizontal ray, Horizontal line, Rectangle, Fibonacci levels, Undo, Redo, Copy object, Paste object, Delete all objects and Delete object under cursor. By default they are unassigned. The only key with a factory assignment is Alt+A, “Alert level at cursor”. In the same section — the “Hide toolbar” action, also without a key. More details — Hotkeys.

Where drawings are stored

  • Per coin. Drawings are tied to the exchange, market and coin, and stored on the computer.
  • Per timeframe. With Sync drawings across TFs enabled, drawings are visible on all timeframes. If it’s off, each new drawing stays only on its own timeframe. The same is set by Shared drawings on all TFs in Settings → Chart.
  • In the cloud. If you’re signed in to your LootX account, drawings go to the cloud and are pulled down when you open that coin’s chart on another computer. This is independent of cloud settings sync.
  • With the order book. Horizontal lines and rays on the main chart appear as levels in the order book for the same coin, and levels from the order book appear on the chart.

On the liquidity map

The liquidity map has the same toolbar, the same tools and the same favorites. Differences:

  • No magnet — the map has no candles to snap a point to.
  • Different storage. Map drawings are saved together with the panel for each coin and do not sync through the cloud like chart drawings.
